Production planning

It is critical to plan the desired production 6 to 8 weeks ahead and seed today what will be harvested in 6 to 8 weeks.

To maximize production, you need to optimize the available growing space utilization. Small plants must be placed at a higher density than big plants. When the plants come out of the germinator, the sponge blocks are placed in pots, and the pots are placed in high-density AHAtrays in the nursery. When the plants get bigger than the pot, they are moved to the MIT production lines at 60 plants per board density. When the plants touch each other, and if we want them to grow bigger, the board is split into two boards at a density of 30 plants per board. Very large plants require the board to be split again at 15 plants per board.   

AHAS has developed an application to model this process and output seeding requirements, size the nursery, and compute the boards required for each density phase.

- 60-hole board area
- 30-hole board area
- 15-hole board area

For each vegetable required, a specific area of MIT should be allocated.

Each MIT hosts 2.5 boards.

The plants grow at various densities:
- 60 plants per board: 7 days
- 30 plants per board: 14 days
- 15 plants per board: 7 days

Your 20-board growing area must be divided into several sections hosting the vegetables at various densities:.
   - 60 plants per board: 2 boards
   - 30 plants per board: 9 boards
   - 15 plants per board: 9 boards

You enter the expected average plant harvesting weight based on your environmental conditions.
 
Your MIT AHAS farm will produce
- 19 plants per day, 571 plants per month
- 114kg of vegetables per month. 

You need to seed 160 plants per week.
